Derek Purvis

Derek is the Clinic Director at Local Physiotherapy, leading a team dedicated to providing high-quality care in Winnipeg. As both a physiotherapist and business owner, he focuses on building strong teams, improving clinic operations, and ensuring patients receive have a great experience. His leadership extends beyond the clinic, with a passion for developing efficient systems and expanding services to better serve the community.

Alongside his role as Clinic Director, Derek is an experienced vestibular and concussion physiotherapist. He has completed extensive post-graduate training in the assessment and treatment of dizziness, vertigo, and balance disorders, as well as concussion and whiplash-related injuries. By combining manual therapy, exercise-based rehab, and vestibular training, he helps patients regain stability, reduce symptoms, and return to daily life.

Derek has also been a long-standing volunteer with the Manitoba Physiotherapy Association (MPA), serving as Private Practice Chair before taking on his current role as President. His work with MPA reflects his commitment to advancing physiotherapy in Manitoba and supporting the profession.
