Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Local Physiotherapy respects your privacy. This website, localphysiotherapy.ca, is owned and managed by Local Health Holdings Inc. This policy explains how personal information is collected, used, disclosed and protected through the website and in connection with Local Physiotherapy clinic services. Individual clinics may be operated by separate affiliated companies. The clinic providing your care is responsible for its clinical records; contact us if you need help identifying the appropriate clinic or records contact.
We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Manitoba’s Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) where it applies to personal health information.
Information we collect and why
We collect information you provide when contacting us, requesting an appointment, registering interest in a program, receiving services or applying for employment. This may include your name, contact details, selected clinic, enquiry, appointment information, relevant health information and application details. We use it to respond, direct your enquiry to the appropriate clinic, arrange and provide services, administer clinic operations, meet legal and professional obligations, or consider employment applications.
Website forms are not intended for detailed medical histories or confidential clinical documents. Please provide only what we need to respond. Information you choose to include, including program interests and messages, may contain personal health information.
Clinical records and online booking
Information collected during assessment and treatment is maintained in our electronic medical record system, separately from website enquiries. We use security safeguards and access controls to protect patient records. Clinical records are retained according to applicable legal and professional requirements.
Our Manitoba physiotherapists are regulated by the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba and are required to meet applicable professional standards, including requirements concerning confidentiality and clinical records.
Online booking links take you to Juvonno, a separate booking and practice-management service. Its privacy information also applies when you use that service. Links to other websites are subject to those websites’ privacy practices.
Consent and sharing
We seek consent where required and use or disclose information for the purposes explained when it is collected, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Information may be shared with staff, practitioners and service providers who need it to perform these purposes. Using a shared website does not give every affiliated clinic unrestricted access to your clinical records.
Consent to treatment, disclosure of clinical records and marketing communications are handled separately where required. You may contact us about withdrawing consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we will explain any effect on the services we can provide.
Website forms and retention
Website form submissions are stored in WordPress and may be emailed to the appropriate clinic. Website entries are configured for permanent deletion after 30 days through scheduled cleanup. Actual deletion timing depends on the cleanup running successfully.
This setting does not delete email correspondence, backup copies or information transferred into a patient record. These have separate retention requirements. We retain personal information as needed for its purpose and applicable legal or professional obligations, then arrange secure disposal or de-identification as appropriate.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses Google services and Meta/Facebook technologies for website analytics and advertising measurement. These may use cookies and similar tools to collect information about pages visited, interactions, devices and cookie identifiers. Hosting and security services may also process technical information such as IP addresses and browser details. Google reCAPTCHA helps prevent spam.
Google restricts personalized advertising involving sensitive health interests, including advertiser-created remarketing audiences. These restrictions do not prevent all website measurement. Google Analytics policies prohibit sending information that identifies a visitor or reveals sensitive information about them.
You can control or delete cookies using your browser settings and manage advertising preferences directly with Google and Meta. Restricting cookies may affect website features. See the Google Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy.
Service providers and protection
We use providers for hosting, forms, email, clinical records, booking, security, analytics and advertising. Information may be processed outside Canada, depending on the service, and may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
We take reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to protect personal information. Internet communications and electronic storage cannot be guaranteed completely secure.
Your questions and privacy rights
For privacy questions, complaints, consent inquiries or requests to access or correct your information, contact info@localphysiotherapy.ca. Please identify the clinic involved so we can direct your request appropriately. We may need to verify your identity before providing access. We will consider requests under applicable law, including any limits on access and requirements to retain records.
